Application / Use : To draw the water from well
Brief description and salient features of technology
Pulley is used by millions of women in villages all over India. Despite an existence of over thousands years, the design of pulley has not undergone any major change. Due to excessive use of underground water, the decreasing water table has compounded the problems faced by women for drawing water. It was the creative genius of Shri Amrutbhai Agrawat, ignited by a brainstorming session by SRISTI that envisioned and designed the new innovation. The improved design is an attempt to provide a safe pulley to the women and children, which also reduce the stress in the life of women
Advantages
- Presence of the ratchet on the pulley prevents the movement of rope towards the well.
- The safety precaution reduces injuries to women and children such as rope burns etc.
- The loss of rope and the bucket is ruled out if the Ganga pulley is used.
- Saraswati is a detachable pulley and can be used at various locations where a beam is present.
- The presence of the wear & tear free bush/bearing, makes the pulley to move easily and efficiently
The innovator wants this innovation to spread the technology free of cost all over India and he is willing to share what has been done in the design with any entrepreneur, NGO or organization who would like to help in diffusion of this innovations.
We would therefore request all the NGOs and Government Departments involved in child and women welfare or working on activities to form a more gender sensitive society to kindly propagate this innovation voluntarily.
