Application / Use : To spray the agrochemicals
Brief description and salient features of technology
Ganeshbhai Dodia devised an insecticide sprayer mounted on a motorcycle to overcome problem of labour shortage in Saurashtra region. The motorcycle- borne sprayer has come as a great advantage to over come the shortage of farmhands.
He is an innovator who wanted to do something unconventional and has always come up with new scientific theories applicable to farming. His success is evident from the fact that from his 60 bighas of land, he gets the maximum productivity compared to most other farmers having more area under cultivation.
The Innovation
The sprayer is mounted on a motorcycle. The sprayer powered by the energy generated through the engine is connected to the motorcycle with the help of a belt drive. Once the pressure starts building up in the container, the insecticide is pushed up through the connectors towards the nozzle. As the motorcycle is driven between rows of cotton plantation, the pump sprays pesticides on the crop.
Features of the Innovation
- The sprayer offers a number of advantages over conventional sprayers.
- The sprayer is energy-efficient, costs less and is easier to handle.
- It is an extremely flexible product with adjustable height and width of spraying boom.
- Since motorcycle requires less space to move, it can be used in a more versatile manner as compared to power sprayers that are mounted on tractors.
- The bullet sprayer is less bulky than conventional power sprayers. So it is very easy to handle and also, it is much simpler to assemble and dissemble.
Raw material :
Pump, PVC pipes, nozzles, steel shaft, belt, pulley etc
Machinery / Equipment :
The production of Motorcycle mounted sprayer can be carried out in a workshop with basic machinery such as lathe, cutter, drill, spray gun etc.

The amount is depending upon the geographical boundaries like district or state level basis. The offer would be given to the interested entrepreneurs after personal interview and consultation with him. GIAN would act as a nodal agency for technology transfer right from negotiation to the final agreement and its follow up.
Calculations in the attached sheet represent cost of the technology only for the state of Andhra Pradesh. Different alternatives of payment mechanism can be explored through negotiations with mutual understanding. Technology cost can be paid through down payment only or it can be a combination of down payment and royalty.
